When We Need God Most   3 comments

Two and a half years ago, my partner, Lisa suffered a tragic and sudden loss of her mother. Lisa’s suffering and grief was so severe that I thought I lost her – emotionally and spiritually.

I knew I had to trust the power of God in her life and mine too, although my heart was breaking and I couldn’t make sense of it.

My friend Betsy came with me on vacation and at an arts and crafts fair pulled DORLISA out of a bin of a hundred or so necklaces with common names like, Mary, Kathy, Bob, etc., When she handed it to me, I knew it was a sign that Lisa and I would weather this storm and remain together.

It still hangs from my rearview mirror. Today we both looked at it grateful to have come through that storm. God is always near and will give us signs of assurance when we need it most.

  1. Wow – very cool. I lost my brother in many ways after our mother died five years ago. Although I do not see a way for him to live through the incapacitation – the depression and anxiety has led to heart failure — I do see little glimmers of God’s hope in him, and must remember that with God, all things are possible. Thanks for the reminder. That’s an amazing “coincidence.” Blessings on your speaking endeavors!
