The Subtlety of Preconception   1 comment

At first I saw a man who was confined to a chair

I tried not to stare and began to say a prayer

He seemed to be waiting

I thought because he needed care

Then the one for whom he waited

Was also in a chair

The only one confined was me in my perception

Side by side we rode

Me on my bike

And they on their motored chairs

We spoke and made a connection

Said they’re married for six years

Like most others who are visiting

They are taking in the sights

While I was realigning mine
