On Our Way to Heaven   Leave a comment

They clung to one another

Unable to deny

That soon, one of them would die

Knowing not who would be first, or in what way

Love had brought them to this place

Memories, and each other, pressed in their embrace

There was no fear, only faith

Each line in their complexion

Life’s cartographer had laid

Easing grip on the other

Letting go of what could not be taken

Their hearts with love so full with brokenness rewoven

Made infinite their treasure with nothing to contain it

Released upon the wings of falling tears

Rolling through the well-earned crevices that only ripened smiles make

A salted river of emotion

A flowing wordless fervent prayer

Deciphered by heaven’s Angels

Understood by the loved one there
