Seeking to spend time with You with pen in hand

To connect, to listen, with hope to be inspired

The phone interrupts our discourse

Or so I thought

Hesitation gave way as I answered

To find that this untimely interruption

Was Your calling that I was longing

For the greatest gift of good purpose

Is our usefulness to another

Giving time of self bears the riches of a crown of jewels

My soul is lifted and refreshed by the humble response of the caller who is blest

And I imagine angel scribes in heaven

Making note of our connectedness and kindliness

As they too marvel at the wonder of Your timing
