The Signs of New Beginnings 3 comments
Angels woo me with their murmurings
Assurance that they’re near
Taunting, almost haunting their energy so clear
Like water purified and rushing to carbonate the soul
To inspire one to inquire how to reach the highest spire
While still tethered to the earth
Prayers authored by the heart
Rise above this graven gravity
Informed by the eternal, ignited by God’s love

Slowing Down Leave a comment
The train has left the station — but my mind, that is speeding forth on a faster track, has already arrived at its predetermined destination — Unable to recount where I have been the rationale disguised as truth insists — “What you’ve missed is worth the price to get where you are going.”
***
It requires a necessary discipline, halting tracks to slowing down — To reconnect with the source of life, that in its disregarded elegance seems to beg for my attention. How could I give Creator and creation praise … blinded sometimes by my own intentions?
I wind down, breathless and amazed … as though it is a first. This free, most precious gift exciting senses, calming soul with Spirit’s peace — bares a beauty that abounds with seeds for endless blooming.

There were bulls and calves and mothers of calves jumping like puppies when a trailer overflowing with rolls of hay pulled up to the gate.
One of the proud and muscular bulls stood not far off on a hill watching, waiting, wise, protective, wary for all that he has seen – All that’s gone before in his still unsure, all enclosed, forever-dependent life.
A smile wide with joy inside soon was stung by sorrow… Surrounded by town-homes and billboards of new homes coming; a strip mall in the distance – How long before this scene and all of its inhabitants soon shall be no more.
Tears that follow joy are steady streams transporting the Spirit, released through love, ever resident in our heart.

Living by Our Daily Bread Leave a comment
When we truly care about what we may have stored in faith
Our material desires seem to become far less
For the Spirit requires that we travel light
Unencumbered by our yesterdays
And not living for tomorrow
Before I could put another letter on this page
A young man walked into the store
Shoulder length matted dreadlocks, mustache, and a beard
The uncustomary looking customer asked for a cup of water please
In what felt like time stilted slow motion I complied
Finger nails black with residue
Hands so soiled too
Holding up coins, he offered an exchange
Can I give you my pennies for a little tea?
Oh no I said – The samples here are free
Refreshed by the herbal that I offered
This twenty something fellow said
Oh this must be hibiscus, and thanked me at the door
Turning, smiling broadly, he added a parting word
Only yesterday I ate hibiscus, picked fresh from a tree
Like John the Baptist in the wild
This young man might have been
A 21st Century apostle
Or an angel in disguise

A Very Good Day 2 comments
First we read and then we prayed
Together as a group
Acknowledging our Creator
And how the Spirit is revealed to us
Moments later … Steps away
The day was ending in a blaze
God revealing another majestic moment
The gift of a day well lived

Mother Earth 4 comments
If we called it home instead of earth
Would we treat her differently
