What it Takes to Keep Ducks in a Row   2 comments

Oh God you have been my go to — in between and during — all of this life’s demands
And now I find myself discontent while searching emails, browsing Facebook, Instagram, or text
How quickly … how quickly … how quickly I suddenly forget
That the info that I need to look for are the messages from You
The Holy Spirit that guides all that I seek to know and need to follow
The wonder you have bestowed in nature … here and now before me … almost begging to be seen and be acknowledged
And above all, with gratitude aplenty, be a vessel overflowing faith and love and peace that comes from simply seeking You

Thank you Lord for Your word

Your precious word that I have heard

To receive it as my own

Your word, this gift, hidden in my heart

Jealous for the day’s arrival to expound

Upon the Spirit swelling

Overflowing with great and precious promise

No mortal can alone contain

Your wisdom, comfort, love, and faith

Without expression as useless as a boat without an oar

Your voice, my rudder, Your Spirit, my oar

Becomes a mighty vessel to carry seeking souls to shore

Everything’s A OK   1 comment

Joy is a gift that sometimes we must seek

A trip to the beach

Or a trip within

To put sunshine on our soul each day

Looking Without Seeing   Leave a comment

The gift of sight can suddenly be blinded by

Thoughts of what has been or what will be

Or pondering on whys; shadowing what’s now

Oh Lord I pray to keep the gift of what is present

Before upon reflection the present turns to past

And my soul becomes a hollow

Open my eyes, my heart to see

Each moment with You contains eternity

If I Could Fly   Leave a comment

If I could fly to the sun

I would wing my way and never return

In the center there I know would be

The heart of God that waits for me

But too soon it is for this ascent

I’ll settle instead for the daystar rising

And be thankful for the knowledge of

The immeasurable depth and breadth of my Creator’s love

What would Life be Like if All I asked for was to be Grateful   Leave a comment

I believe the lens in which I view my life would suddenly become clear

And all the colors of the earth and sky would multiply their hue

Mercy would be a welcome gift I would come to understand

For I would love more deeply those not as fortunate as I

And I would always see the beauty in each friend and passerby
