Productive Waiting   2 comments

While I am waiting I will stay as busy as can be

I’ll stay and wait

Or stand and wait

Or walk then run then sit again

And sleep and eat between

Maybe write a book

Or see a picture I can snap

I’ll take a course

Learn something new

But all the while be waiting

I’ll not forget to pray

And remember to acknowledge

That while I wait I’m not alone

And although I cannot live tomorrow

To hold it in my memory

For tomorrow lives somehow within

Of the promise of what’s to come

While I live this day with gratitude busily awaiting

Growing Closer to God   2 comments

Oh Lord I Pray

That while I feel as though sometimes confined within the bud

I trust in You with all my heart and incline to you my ear

To listen with faithful waiting

Ever ready for when You call

Without sight of what tomorrow holds

I trust that You are near

And thank You for a glimpse of Your presence here

An Open Invitation   Leave a comment

Leave your calendar open daily with room aplenty for God to enter in

To find at day’s end  your slumber laced with  peace filled recollections of the Spirit’s encounters that are undoubtedly uniquely yours

An Everyday Necessity   Leave a comment

Peace and Love . . .

It’s that time of year

What time is that you say

It is now; it is always

It is our weapon against war

It is our agent for all disease

It is what wakes us up

And gives us pause

Not to rise up in rebuke

Not to lay down in denial

Not to lie, but to edify

And only when the Spirit says it’s called for

A Couple of Firsts   Leave a comment

One of my first instructors in photography taught me that the eye will always be drawn to the light in the image.

That struck me as profound and still does even more so today – Whether conscious or not, light is what we seek and what inwardly we know is life.

For me, God is my light, God is love, and has provided a promised path to follow –

Another first — When I heard this scripture in my first formal study of scripture from Genesis to Revelation – it literally burned into my heart, and the heart of my memory.

Proverbs – 3:5,6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways – acknowledge Him – and He will direct your paths.

That path is the light and love of God that each day I must commit to follow anew. I sometimes don’t know where it will lead but I trust in the Lord with all my heart to follow — For me the alternative would be living in the shadows with fear and doubt.

I love God, I love light, and yes, I love, and am grateful for the gift of photography — to continue to search for the light and live it through pictures, and with words to magnify God’s presence, I pray.

A Distant Shore   Leave a comment

God who is Spirit I cannot touch or see
Yet I find you when I seek You
Your covering is upon me
I know that I am a part of all that is Yours
With hope I seek what now appears to be a distant shore
Knowing surely the good that You oh God must have in store
While I unravel a web of tangled thoughts
One by one they float away
Until I am emptied at last and one with peace

This Day   Leave a comment

Let me mark this day as one of reckoning

Where again I turn my heart and all to God

The only One who knew who would be next to come into the Kingdom

And yes although it’s hard to believe

A Forgiveness, and a mercy, and a grace so great

That somehow even the perpetrator has a place

Oh God please help me here to love with your love of this sordid human race
